Jhelum Farmers Receive Tractors Under Punjab Green Tractor Scheme – 2025 Latest Update

Under the Punjab Green Tractor Scheme 2025, the government has officially distributed tractors to farmers in Jhelum, Dina, and Sohawa, helping them access modern agricultural machinery at affordable rates.

According to the latest update, Minister of State for Finance and Railways, Bilal Azhar Kayani, handed over tractors to 39 shortlisted farmers. The district-wise distribution is as follows:

  • Tehsil Jhelum: 10 farmers
  • Tehsil Dina: 10 farmers
  • Tehsil Sohawa: 19 farmers

Each tractor was provided with a subsidy of PKR 1 million, announced earlier by Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif.

Government Says Scheme Will Modernize Punjab’s Agriculture

Speaking at the ceremony, Bilal Azhar Kayani said that the Punjab government is working to make farming more affordable and efficient by providing modern agricultural equipment to local farmers.

He added that the Green Tractor Scheme is a major step toward the e-mechanization of agriculture, which will boost productivity and support long-term agricultural growth in the province.

The Minister highlighted that agriculture is the backbone of Pakistan’s economy, and improving farmer access to advanced machines like super seeders, balers, and Kubota machinery will:

  • Promote modern farming
  • Reduce crop residue burning
  • Help control smog
  • Increase overall yields

Other Development Projects Highlighted in Jhelum

Bilal Azhar Kayani also mentioned several ongoing welfare and development initiatives for the Jhelum region, including:

  • Suthra Punjab Project
  • Kisan Card rollout
  • Construction of Lilla–Jhelum Road
  • Upgradation of DHQ Jhelum with new health blocks
  • Establishment of a THQ hospital in Dina
  • Linking Jhelum to the Lahore–Sialkot Motorway

He further stated that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is committed to job creation and economic development, while CM Maryam Nawaz Sharif is working continuously to improve services for the people of Punjab.The Minister also shared that the government is taking steps to address the long-pending demand for gas supply in Dina and Sohawa, and a formal request will be made to the Prime Minister and Federal Minister Ali Pervaiz.
